Code Enforcement - Alternate Plumbing & Gas Inspector

The Town of East Bridgewater seeks to fill the part-time position – Code Enforcement – Alternate Plumbing & Gas Inspector.

Statement of Duties: The purpose of this position is to enforce the Massachusetts Plumbing and Gas Codes.  Inspects installation of plumbing and gas systems of buildings for conformity and legal requirements of the Massachusetts Plumbing and Gas Code Regulations.  Coordinates work with the Building Dept., investigates complaints of improper installations, and issues orders for correction.  Investigates complaints, issues permits and maintains records of inspections electronically through an Apple tablet.  Performs similar or related work as required or as the situation dictates.

Minimum Qualifications:  Requires a High School Diploma and four (4) years’ experience as a licensed plumber and gas fitter or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Prior experience as a Plumbing and Gas Inspector preferred.  A valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operators license and license as a Master Plumber and Gas Fitter in Massachusetts are required.

Work Schedule:  The position schedule is varied depending on number of inspections and availability of the Plumbing and Gas Inspector.  Position fills in for the Inspector as needed.  Salary:  $375.42 per week when filling in for the Inspector and an annual stipend of $1,355.60.
