Shelter Information

The town of East Bridgewater has plans in place to provide it's citizens with emergency shelters when and if needed. The town currently has designated the East Bridgewater Community Center at Sachem Rock as it shelter, however there are other suitable facilities within the town that are currently being considered for shelters as a back-up. The Emergency Management Director has also created plans to provide both Warming and Cooling centers which are located at Town Hall and the Community Center at Sachem Rock.

In the event of a major event requiring long-term sheltering, the Town belongs to the Sachem Rock Regional Emergency Planning Council, which consists of the Towns of Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Halifax, Hanson, Raynham, West Bridgewater and Whitman. Regional Shelters are located in Bridgewater and at the Whitman-Hanson Regional high School. Citizens requiring sheltering that are incapable of driving will be brought to either the Town Hall or Community Center where they will be bussed to the appropriate shelter. Pets are welcome and the Emergency Management Department have a limited number of cages available for Pets. Citizens are encouraged to bring there own pet crates if available.
