Digital Equity Workshop

The Town of East Bridgewater will hold a workshop on Tuesday, August 15 at 7pm at the The Center at Sachem Rock Senior/Community Center, 355 Plymouth Street, at which attendees will discuss the challenges that residents have in using the internet (lack of devices, lack of access to high-speed broadband, lack of knowledge about how to use it) and what steps the Town and other entities can take to eliminate these barriers. The Council on Aging will provide transportation to and from the workshop if a minimum of four (4) residents contact the CoA (508-378-1610) to request a ride to the workshop.

The Town is working with the Massachusetts Broadband Institute and consultant VHB , to engage, in East Bridgewater, in planning activities related to digital equity and bridging the digital divide. The workshop will provide a framework that will guide future municipal decision-making and potential investments and activities that will increase access and usage of the internet for the populations most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end of the workshop, the Town will receive a summary report deliverable with strategic recommendations to begin, modify, or expand digital equity programs/investments and a detailed, realistic vision for future action.
