The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources has announced that the Town of East Bridgewater has been awarded a $200,000 grant as part of the Commonwealth’s Green Communities program. The Town has previously received a $160,000 grant in 2022 when it was designated as a Green Community. This is the first Green Communities competitive grant that the Town has received.

Projects funded by this grant include work on the transformer at the Mitchell Middle School, LED lighting at the Mitchell Middle School and the East Bridgewater Jr/Sr High School, work on motors and variable frequency drives (VFD) at the Town Hall, and weatherization measures at the East Bridgewater Public Library. Incentives from National Grid will help provide additional funding for these projects.

These projects should be completed by the summer of 2024 and allow the Town to apply for additional funding in future grant rounds.

The Old Colony Planning Council provided assistance in completing the grant application and will be administering the grant on behalf of the Town.
