Option to Purchase Open Space Land - Comments Welcome

Under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 61A, a property that has been set aside for agricultural use but is now proposed to be sold and taken out of that use must be offered to the Town under “right of first refusal”. If the Town is interested in purchasing the land, the Town must match the offer of the potential buyer.

Two properties, one listed as Assessors Map 47, Parcel 10 (12.35 acres) and the other as Map 37, Parcel 12 (40 acres) have been in Chapter 61A and are now proposed to be sold and used for non-agricultural purposes (proposed use is a solar field). The total proposed purchase price for the two parcels is $510,000. These parcels are located near the corner of Washington Street and Crescent Street.

The East Bridgewater Selectboard is interested in receiving comments from any interested party about whether the Town should purchase these parcels. Interested parties can contact the Selectboard by email at rjohnson@eastbridgewaterma.gov, calling the Selectboard office at 508-378-1601, or by dropping off or mailing comments to the East Bridgewater Selectboard at the East Bridgewater Town Hall, 175 Central Street, East Bridgewater, MA 02333 no later than Thursday, February 8, 2024.
