Why do I need to return an ANNUAL CENSUS?

The Annual Town Census is mailed to all East Bridgewater residents at the beginning of each year, in January.  The census is an important legal document mandated by Massachusetts Genneral Laws.

Information from the annual census is updated to the Commonwealth's Voter Registration Information System (VRIS).

Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, any resident that has not returned a current census will be placed on the "inactive list".  The Town will forward a Request for Confirmation to each registered voter listed at the residence.  This Confirmation requires a reply!

Inactivation results in voters having to prove they are still residents of the Town by showing identification at the polls.
